Abstract Background The management of benign prostatic enlargement (BPE) in low resource settings poses a major challenge Africa. objective the study was to investigate accuracy Bladder Voiding Efficiency (BVE) assess lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) among BPE patients setting. Methods From December 2017 March 2018, with and Lower were recruited into study. prospective cross-sectional Participants had International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) recorded followed by evaluation their (BVE). BVE calculated as ratio volume Urine voided over total bladder at time void. data analysed show Sensitivity Specificity symptomatic LUTS. Pearson correlation co-efficient between IPSS analysed. Results 94 participants. age range 45 85 year. mean 68.1 years. sensitivity detect severe LUTS 97.97%, while specificity mild moderate disease 97.78%. coefficient negatively correlated 0.89, this statistically significant ( P < 0.001). Conclusion is highly sensitive specific test our population It well Severity population.
